Lake DuBay Information
Lake DuBay is a popular recreational lake formed by the Wisconsin River. Named for John Baptiste DuBay who operated a trading post at the site in the 1840s it was created by construction of a dam in the early 1940s. DuBay features 6830 acres and 42.3 miles of shoreline. Twelve public landings allow usage by boaters and anglers.
It’s central location between Stevens Point and Wausau and easy access to I-39 results in a thriving real estate market with housing prices from $80,000 for off water properties to over $1,000,000 for waterfront homes.
Lake DuBay has strong walleye, northern pike and muskie fisheries. Walleyes are abundant with 30 inch fish caught every year. Northern pike and muskie densities are low however Lake DuBay has a large population of forage species such as bullheads, suckers and carp which results in above average growth rates. Trophy sized fish are regularly taken. There are also large populations of panfish.
Pontoon and sail boats, water skiing and personal watercraft are common activities on the main basin of the lake which has a maximum depth of 47 feet. There is a large county owned campground and park on the west side of the lake where the Little Eau Pleine River enters.
