Plover Information
One of the fastest growing areas in Portage County, Plover is centrally located just south of Stevens Point. It is served by the Stevens Point Area school district and students attend one of three elementary schools.
Recent development includes the Crossroads Commons and the Village Park in Plover shopping centers. These developments have brought a number of national restaurants and stores such as Best Buy, Kohl's and Petco to the area.
Plover provides a number of community facilities and services to its population. The Community Center houses the municipal offices, an activity center and the public protection agencies. There are over 100 acres of land which has been set aside as public parks. There are both "neighborhood' and "community-wide" parks in the village including a skate park.
The Plover/Whiting Lions Club runs a very popular youth baseball and softball program. The Lions also own and run Lake Pacawa, which is the major recreational area for swimming.
